PROMIS
Diagnostic accuracy of multi-parametric MRI and TRUS biopsy in prostate cancer (PROMIS): a paired validating confirmatory study
N = 740NCT01292291
- Population
- Men with PSA up to 15 ng/mL and no previous biopsy (740 enrolled; 576 had MRI, TRUS biopsy and TPM biopsy).
- Design
- Multicentre, paired-cohort, confirmatory diagnostic study (not randomised): men with PSA up to 15 ng/mL and no previous biopsy had 1.5 Tesla multi-parametric MRI followed by both TRUS biopsy and template prostate mapping (TPM) biopsy, the reference test; each test was conducted and reported blind to the others. Enrolment May 2012 to November 2015.
- Arms
- TRUS biopsy (control): Transrectal ultrasonography-guided biopsy (all men also had MRI and TPM biopsy)
- Multi-parametric MRI (experimental): 1.5 Tesla multi-parametric MRI (all men also had TRUS biopsy and TPM biopsy)
- People
- Ahmed HU, PROMIS study group
