Vinblastine plus ifosfamide plus cisplatin as initial salvage therapy in recurrent germ cell tumor

N = 135

Population
Patients with progressive disseminated germ cell tumours after cisplatin-etoposide-based induction chemotherapy (second-line setting)
Design
Single-arm series (Clinical Trial in PubMed): July 1984 to December 1989, patients with progressive disseminated germ cell tumours after cisplatin-etoposide-based induction chemotherapy were treated with VeIP for four cycles every 21 days. Patients who progressed within 3 weeks of previous cisplatin therapy were not eligible.
Arms
  • VeIP (experimental, n = 135): Vinblastine 0.11 mg per kg per day (days 1 and 2), ifosfamide 1.2 g per square metre per day and cisplatin 20 mg per square metre per day (days 1 to 5), every 21 days for four cycles
