Testicular cancer in the cisplatin era: causes of death and mortality rates in a population-based cohort
Phase observationalN = 5,707
- Population
- Men diagnosed with testicular cancer in Norway, 1980 to 2009 (median follow-up 18.7 years; 665 deaths not due to testicular cancer)
- Design
- Population-based cohort of men diagnosed with testicular cancer in Norway from 1980 to 2009, identified by the Cancer Registry of Norway and linked to the Norwegian Cause of Death Registry. Standardised mortality ratios, absolute excess risks per 10,000 person-years and adjusted hazard ratios were calculated.
- Arms
- Surgery only (control): Surgery (named in the abstract as the comparator for the hazard ratios)
- Three cisplatin cycles (experimental): Three cycles of cisplatin-based chemotherapy
- Four cisplatin cycles (experimental): Four cycles of cisplatin-based chemotherapy
- More than four cisplatin cycles (experimental): More than four cycles of cisplatin-based chemotherapy
- People
