EF-14

Tumour treating fields plus maintenance temozolomide versus maintenance temozolomide alone after chemoradiation in glioblastoma (EF-14)

Phase 3N = 695NCT00916409

Population
Patients with glioblastoma whose tumour was resected or biopsied and who had completed concomitant radiochemotherapy; 695 randomised at 83 centres between July 2009 and 2014 (median age 56 years); randomisation occurred after chemoradiation, not at diagnosis
Design
Randomised (2:1), open-label trial in patients who had completed concomitant radiochemotherapy (median 3.8 months from diagnosis to randomisation): TTFields (200 kHz, at least 18 hours a day via 4 transducer arrays on the shaved scalp) plus maintenance temozolomide 150 to 200 mg/m2 for 5 days per 28-day cycle (6 to 12 cycles) versus temozolomide alone; primary endpoint progression-free survival, overall survival a hierarchically tested secondary endpoint (final analysis)
