Bezwoda metastatic HDC study (retracted)
High-dose chemotherapy with hematopoietic rescue as primary treatment for metastatic breast cancer: a randomized trial (retracted)
N = 90
Retracted
PubMed and Crossref index a J Clin Oncol retraction notice (1 June 2001 issue; J Clin Oncol 19:2973; PMID 11387377) as the retraction of this article, and PubMed labels the article a retracted publication. The text of the notice could not be read (publisher site blocked access; Europe PMC and PubMed hold no text), so no reason is stated here. An on-site audit published in the same journal (Weiss et al., 2001) reports that records could be found for only 61 of the 90 patients reported as randomised and concludes that the multiple publications of this study 'do not report verifiable data'. The original results must not be used as evidence.

- Design
- Single-institution randomised study of high-dose versus conventional-dose combination chemotherapy as first-line treatment of metastatic breast cancer, published in J Clin Oncol in 1995; a retraction notice for the article was published in the journal in 2001. Results are deliberately not recorded.
