Первый автор статьи 1996 года в Anti-Cancer Drugs, предложившей S-1, комбинацию тегафура, CDHP и калия оксоната. В обзоре 2009 года он пишет, что его группа создала S-1 в 1991 году, и указан как руководитель проекта S-1, учреждённого в ноябре 1990 года.
