Chemist at Research Triangle Institute, Co-discoverer of camptothecin and taxol, according to a 2004 review
Monroe E. Wall
A 2004 review credits Monroe E. Wall and Mansukh C. Wani of Research Triangle Institute with discovering camptothecin, first isolated and identified from Camptotheca acuminata, and taxol, from Taxus brevifolia. Wall is first author of the 1966 paper on the isolation and structure of camptothecin and of the 1995 Bruce F. Cain Memorial Award lecture on the two compounds.
