Max Wilms

German surgeon after whom the most common kidney cancer of infants and children is named. A 2015 history reports that he was a second-year surgical assistant when he published a monograph on mixed tumours of the kidney in 1899, aged 32, and that his career was cut short when he became septic after operating on a prisoner of war during the First World War.
