First author of the 1953 clinical evaluation of 6-mercaptopurine in leukaemia

First author listed in PubMed for the 1953 Blood paper 'Clinical evaluation of a new antimetabolite, 6-mercaptopurine, in the treatment of leukemia and allied diseases'. In her Nobel lecture Elion says Burchenal proceeded rapidly to a clinical trial of 6-mercaptopurine in children with acute leukaemia.
