Physician
Henry Bence Jones
St. George's Hospital
Physician to St. George's Hospital in the byline of his Philosophical Transactions paper (read to the Royal Society on 22 April 1847, printed in the 1848 volume) on a new substance in the urine of a patient with mollities ossium. Macintyre's report records that he joined the consultation on that patient and had been examining the composition of the urine. A 2021 historical review credits him with the discovery in 1847 of the urinary protein that bears his name.
